Indie high-flyers TRISTESSE present a driving and soulful track, "Retina":

Singer and lyricist Jannes-Maximilian Priebels comments:

"During the process of making 'Retina' I found an old poem I had written in my notes that perfectly suited the mood and demo of the instrumental at the time. The verse of the song was initially not planned and was written and added to much later, together with our producer Magnus Wichmann, during the studio recordings of 'Retina'."

"Retina" follows the recently released singles "Im Taumel" and "Wolkendecke".

In Berlin, people look for dreams and sing about them from all sides. With their debut EP "In the weakest light" (2021), the new German softness has won TRISTESSE, a band that racks their brains over self-invention and getting lost. Despite the tried and tested constellation, the combo, founded in 2019, is a musical REM sleep phase in which guitars and vocals blur into lucid strings and every song tries to be an orchestrated dream image.

Located between indie rock, shoegaze and dream pop, the sound of TRISTESSE is determined by space. The reverberant words stretch into the chord progressions, drums and bass catch them out of thin air and frame them. On the one hand, the room radiates the familiar, on the other hand, it marks the moment of shock just before you fall. This ambivalent relationship shapes the band's sound. During the production, the quintet received support from Magnus Wichmann, who has already worked with acts such as PABST and LEONIDEN.
