Converge release new single, "Doom In Bloom"

The album's latest single – “Doom In Bloom” – is raw and brutal, with Kurt Ballou's razor-sharp riffs scraping against Nate Newton's bass and Ben Koller's drums. You can practically hear Jacob Bannon's throat tearing with every scream. “It's dark and straight at you,” he says. “Lyrically, I explore how my own middle-aged self-reflection doesn't always shed light on things. I see my own traps reflected in the people around me. Here, I'm begging them to break free from the noose and live for another day.”

“Hum of Hurt” follows “Love Is Not Enough” as Converge’s second full-length album of 2026. Like its predecessor, the album offers a dark yet insightful assessment of the human condition and its ongoing decline. On this album, the songs are even rawer and more unvarnished. “When we got together to write, we suddenly had a wealth of material,” explains Bannon. “As we worked, we realized we had created two separate albums—and we treated them as such.”

“Hum of Hurt” was recorded and mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios in Salem, Massachusetts, with Zach Weeks as sound engineer. Jacob Bannon collaborated with renowned British artist Thomas Hooper on the album artwork.
