HIPPIE TRIM are proud to announce their new studio album, due out September 16th, titled "What Consumes Me", and scheduled to be released via digital and as limited vinyl via Supervillain. In line with the announcement, the quintet presents “Hooked On U”, an anthemic track, in which guitarist Moritz Mewes takes on the main vocals for the first time. There is also a music video based on boy band clips from the 90s:

Mewes, also a composer for the band, explains the process of creating the new album: “The writing process was very cohesive. The basic instrumental framework was created in just under six months and working on the songs particularly helped me to process the preceding events. While you can hear some tracks being made in good weeks, you can hear others being from periods of depression and hopelessness. They are undoubtedly a reflection of my emotions at the time.”

The two tracks "Toothpaste" and "Pain Ball" had already been released beforehand. In a few days, the formation will be performing at FIDDLEHEAD's exclusive EU show in Berlin. In September you share u. a. the stage with TURBOSTAAT, while an exclusive release show will follow in Cologne in October:

06/27/2022 - Berlin, Hole 44 (w/ FIDDLEHEAD + RAW PLASTIC)

06/30/2022 - Siegen, Vortex Surfer Musikclub (w/ THE CAROLYN)

September 24, 2022 - Mönchengladbach, Sound of Suburbia (w/ TURBOSTAAT and much more)

02.10.2022 - Cologne, Sonic Ballroom (w/ TRISTESSE)

HIPPIE TRIM started 2019 on the scene with a bang: with only one released single to date, the quintet sold out their first show weeks in advance, followed immediately by accompanying the US post-punks DRUG CHURCH on their Germany dates, got hold of several well-known playlist placements and presented in November of the same year with "Cult" a debut album that proved that heaviness and melody by no means have to be mutually exclusive. With playful riffs, which are alternately accompanied by rough but also dreamy vocals, the formation from the Rhine-Ruhr area convinces music critics, who predict a rosy future for the band and the style mix of hardcore, punk, dream pop, emo and grunge as a uniquely identify in the local sound landscape.

In 2022, HIPPIE TRIM are more self-confident than ever and continue to expand their world of sound as part of their second album. While the material was again produced in Frankfurt, the band worked with Americans Jon Markson (DRUG CHURCH, SUCH GOLD, CAN'T SWIM) and Adam Cichocki (FREE THROW, LIKE PACIFIC) for mixing and mastering for the first time.
