The Amity Affliction shares crushing new single "Like Love", dedicated to the late Sean kennedy

Multi-million streaming Australian metalcore trailblazers The Amity Affliction — Joel Birch [vocals], Ahren Stringer [vocals, bass], Dan Brown [lead guitar], and Jon Longobardi [drums] — have shared a powerful new song "Live Love".

"Like Love", which is taken from the song itself, was written by co-vocalist Joel for Ahren, about their friend SK who sadly passed away.

It’s important as a band that The Amity Affliction draws from personal experience and maintains its dedication to facing up to the brutal realities of mental illness within the context of their songs.  Joel is unwavering in his constant use of the music as catharsis, and this song is no different. The song shifts between positive and negative, hope and hopelessness, and draws on an intimate knowledge of drug use and depression and how the two are often inextricably linked in their personal devastation, while also acknowledging the peace for those who suffer once they are gone.

Since emerging in 2008 on the debut "Severed Ties", The Amity Affliction have served up two ARIA gold-certified albums, "Youngbloods" [2010] and "Chasing Ghosts" [2012], and earned a platinum certification from ARIA for the seminal "Let the Ocean Take Me" [2014]. "This Could Be Heartbreak" [2016] marked the band's second consecutive Top 30 debut on the Billboard Top 200 and went gold in Australia, while "Misery" [2018] elevated them to new critical heights and most recently "Everyone Loves You...One You Leave Them" [2020] showed the band returning to their heavier side and saw the group's total stream tally surpass 460 million and counting.
