Ice Nine Kills announces new album, shares first single and video

Horrorcore pioneers Ice Nine Kills have returned. The Massachusetts outfit has announced their upcoming album, titled "The Silver Scream pt.2: Welcome to Horrorhood", the follow-up of the critically acclaimed "The Silver Scream", due out October 15 via Fearless records.

To celebrate, the quintet has released the first single and accompanying video for the "American Psycho"-based, "Hip To Be Scared" which also features Papa Roach vocalist Jacoby Shaddix. In true INK fashion, vocalist Spencer Charnas takes on the iconic Patrick Bateman role, leaving a trail of dead bodies on his path.

Lyrically, the song pays homage to and follows the pacing of the book, making social criticism, while the composition itself is a layered masterpiece; from Charnas' Broadway-esque performance to a stellar choreography to callbacks to the playful Huey Lewis And The News tribute/reference before a hard-hitting breakdown, everything is perfectly calculated in a blatant display of ingenious songwriting.

Spencer Charnas commented the following: “True to horror franchise tradition, there is always a sequel… "Welcome To Horrorwood" follows in the bloody footsteps of its predecessor, paying tribute to 13 more of the most gruesome tales to ever grace the silver screen. In this latest INK offering, the last album and video series is portrayed as a work of fiction. The new storyline thrusts the band into a brutal ‘real world’ slaying. The only traces of the crime are 13 songs left behind by the suspected killer…”

“We can’t wait to share this next chapter with you, and to welcome you to the sinister state of mind that will soon be known the world over as Horrorwood. The first stop on the tour is 1980’s New York City’s ‘greed is good’ scene, where a certain hot shot investment banker has a rather violent dirty secret…”.
