Guitar icon and Van Halen co-founder Eddie Van Halen has reportedly passed away at age 65 after fighting with lung cancer for over a decade.
According to an exclusive TMZ story, which cites a source directly connected to the family, the musician passed away at St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica on Tuesday. Over the last 72 hours, Van Halen's health deteriorated and it wa then that doctors discovered the cancer had spread to his brain as well as other organs.
Furthermore, as reported by TMZ, the guitarist had been "in and out of the hospital over the past year" and last November he faced intestinal issues and underwent chemo in the recent months.
The news of Eddie's passing were sadly confirmed by his son, Wolf Van Halen, on his social media.
