Live Coverage || Underoath @ Franklin Music Hall, 9/12/2018

Underøath is winding down on the last few days of the ‘Erase Me Tour’. The lineup includes The Plot In You, Crown The Empire and Dance Gavin Dance. I attended the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania date on 12/9/18 at Franklin Music Hall. This tour was one for the books with a stacked lineup and special performances from Underøath.

I always have a great time seeing The Plot In You. The vocalist, Landon Tewers, has such a unique voice. Be sure to check them out, if you haven’t already! The Plot In You played crowd favorites such as "My Old Ways", "Feel Nothing and "Take Me Away".

Crown The Empire performed well and fans certainly enjoyed their music. I have never listened to the band before the show but I found myself nodding by the end of their set.

Dance Gavin Dance is always a blast to see live and put on an unforgettable show. I especially enjoy watching the clean vocalist, Tilian Pearson, dance across the stage.

Underøath is a band that every metalcore fan should see and respect. After all, they did create the metalcore genre. I’m always blown away by their performances and the high energy within their set. This past weekend was absolutely incredible. The band had LED backdrops that were  similar to Bring Me The Horizon’s 2017 North American Tour. I would also like to say that I greatly appreciate how involved the vocalist, Spencer Chamberlain, is with the crowd. Not only does Spencer value crowd involvement but suspense as well. This show was full of special performances by the band including a Nirvana cover of "Heart-Shaped Box" and songs rarely played. As the night began to come to a close, there was one more surprise left. Spencer Chamberlain gave a moving and powerful speech about his struggle with suicide and drug use. Moments later, he began playing "Erase Me" and climbed on top of the piano. Afterwards, Underøath closed out the show with an Oath classic- "Writing On The Walls".
